Dear Senator,

I'm contacting you in reference to the National Defense Authorization Act (S. 1390) that recently passed in the house. It has come to my attention that attached to this bill is the Hate Crimes legislation H.R. 1913. I am concerned about the implications that this bill has on free speech and individual thought. The fact that this law charges persons not only on their actions but provides stricter punishment based on their thought processes is cause for much alarm. Where are the limits to the bill? This bill is an entry way into governing peoples thoughts and beliefs, something no man has the right to do.

I am also appalled at the protection that this bill provides to special classes of sexual deviancy. Classes such as pedophilia.

Senator, I am asking you to please look at this bill and see the dangerous nature of it. If nothing can be done to strip it from the National Defense Authorization Act then I ask you to reject them as a whole. We cannot let this kind of law against the freedom of thought be allowed to pass.

Sincerely,
